This campaign is about a principle, not a person. But here is a bit about the person.

Lawrence Lessig is a father, a law professor, and an activist. He was born in South Dakota, raised in Pennsylvania, and educated across the world.

Larry studied economics at college, philosophy at graduate school, and finally law. He clerked in the federal judiciary before becoming a professor in 1991. His initial focus was constitutional law, and he worked across eastern and central Europe to understand and then help with the transition away from communism.

Lawrence Lessig then helped build the field of Internet law. In 2002, he co-founded Creative Commons, which gives artists and authors free tools to share their creativity widely on their own terms. He helped challenge regulations that weakened the freedom of creativity and threatened the Internet, serving on the boards of the Free Software Foundation, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the Software Freedom Law Center, and Public Knowledge.

In 2007, Aaron Swartz convinced him to shift his work to ending the corruption of our democracy. With Swartz and Joe Trippi, he founded (what became) Rootstrikers. He was a founder of the New Hampshire Rebellion, and a co-founder of Mayday.US.

As of September 2015, Larry is running as a candidate for president of the United States. The focus of his campaign platform is to bring to light the issue of campaign finance reform, and he proposes a step by step plan to remove the corrupting influence of money in politics from day one.

Larry Lessig is married to Bettina Neuefeind. They have three children: Willem (11), Teo (8), Tess (5). Read more at wikipedia.
